The origin of the company’s name lies in its roots: Moncler is actually an abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, a mountain village near Grenoble. There, in 1952, the businessmen René Ramillon and Andrè Vincent were inspired, who founded the Company that produces the famous products. At first Moncler only produced sleeping bags, quickly becoming a hit with the public as the new social holiday phenomenon began to emerge.  French climber Lionel Terray first noticed and promoted her products.
